John Lennon John Lennon and Yoko Ono continued to perform together throughout the ‘70s, record music and promote peace around the world with art events. John enjoyed a successful solo career, releasing several albums and giving concerts. After years of trying to have a baby, they finally succeeded when Sean Ono Lennon was born John’s birthday, October 9th, 1975. John then left the spotlight for five years to raise his son, something he regretted never having a chance to do with his first son, Julian. In 1980, John returned to the limelight after a long hiatus, recording a promising album called, “Starting Over.” On December 8th, it all ended when he was gunned down by an insane fan named Mark David Chapman in front of his home at the Dakota apartment building in New York City. Yoko was by his side, as always. Candlelight vigils were held around the world as friends, family and fans mourned the loss.
