Paul McCartney

James Paul McCartney was born June 18, 1942, in Liverpool, England. His mother, Mary was a nurse and his father Jim was a cotton salesman. He has a younger brother name d Michael. Jim played in a jazz band in his youth and taught Paul how to play the trumpet. He also learned to play the family piano. He got his love of music from his dad, and music played a big part in the McCartney household. When Paul was 14, his mother died of breast cancer, leaving the males to do the housework. In his teens, he met John Lennon and soon joined his band. The rest is history. Paul dated model Jane Asher throughout the Beatlemania years. In 1969, he married American photographer Linda Eastman. Linda had a daughter from a previous marriage, and soon they were had three children of their own, Mary, Stella and James. They lived as vegetarians on their Scottish farm and often spoke up for animal rights. Linda wrote cookbooks and started her own line of frozen foods. Paul and Linda enjoyed superstardom as members of Wings, the group they formed together. The whole family traveled together around the world on tour. In 1980, he was imprisoned for 10 days in Japan for having a small amount of marijuana in his luggage. After John was murdered later that same year, he decided not to continue touring with Wings and started his solo career anew. During the ‘80s, he enjoyed a string of successful hits, some recorded and written with Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder. When the Lennon-McCartney song catalog went on the auction block, Jackson outbid McCartney, ending their creative friendship. In 1991, Paul composed a classical piece, “The Liverpool Oratorio,” performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. In 1997, Paul was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II. In 1998, he lost Linda to breast cancer, just as his mother had died. In 2000 he began dating activist and former model Heather Mills. Heather had lost a leg in an accident a few years earlier and now speaks out against land mines. In June 2002, Heather and Paul married, and in 2003, their first child together, Beatrice was born.
